Hazardous Area Classifications and Electrical Equipment in the Hazardous Area

The requirements for electrical hazardous area classifications and associated wiring methods for safety interlocks for the storage, use and handling of flammable and combustible materials are defined in the Indian Building Code, Indian Electrical Code, National Fire Code (NFC) and National Fire Protection Association. Hazardous area classification drawings and/or a report are required for submission to the Authority Having Jurisdiction.

Course Objective

Upon completion of this program, both classroom session and study materials, the participant will be able to:

• Understand the concepts of hazardous area classification and hazardous area wiring;
• Become familiar with the industry standards and code requirements;
• Apply the technical knowledge to specific applications for wiring methods, control measures and mechanical systems required for the implementation of the safety measures in hazardous areas
