What & Why Electrical Fire – its Genesis, Mitigation and Prevention

Among all the hazards present in the work area, fire and explosion due to electricity is a significant ones. More than 75% of the fires in the industrial, commercial, and domestic fronts are caused by electricity. In fact, fire and electricity are like two sides of a coin. And that is why we must be concerned with two streams – Electricity and Fire.

Our goal shall be to provide safe and healthy working conditions for all in the workplace and beyond. Hence, control and Mitigation of electrical fire, electrical arc-flash, and identification of hazardous areas shall be one of our major focus areas. Mitigating and preventing a fire caused by electricity, commonly known as ‘Electrical Fire’, consists of four elements – Awareness, Causes, Testing, and Safety.

The entire curriculum has been designed keeping this goal in mind. As a result, this Technical Training Program starts with the understanding of electrical safety; ignition, arc-flash Hazards & Risks in low, medium, and high voltage installations; followed by Hazard Area Classification for installing Electrical Equipment, Instruments, and wiring in the Hazardous Area, fire philosophy; testing of electrical installation from the point of view of fire; and prevention & mitigation of fire.
